When assessing a tennis ball you will need to look at the type of court you play on , how hard do you hit the ball and so how important is felt durability and of course price .
The short answer is that it mainly boils down to personal preference, but certain balls are more suited to different surfaces and some are better quality than others.
The good news is there’s plenty of high-quality tennis balls the market to choose from.
The ITF has well over 150 approved balls for use and designed for match use and hitting sessions played with a purpose. If you are wanting to practice serves or hit 100 forehands in a row that are hand-fed, pretty much any ball will do.
There are plenty of articles that people have posted on the net that will list their preference of tennis ball and all the lists of course vary .Many of them however like the Pro Penn Marathon balls as the best ball for durability but apart from that the lists don’t have a lot on common so basically there are a range of very good quality balls with slightly different attributes that all come down to personal preference . However that being said there is a theme in most of these lists that the cheaper the ball the quicker they go flat or wear out the felt . Here at Pressureball we can at least deal to one of those issues . Pressureball was designed as a reusable alternative to the point of sale pressure cans that most balls are sold in .Once you have opened a fresh can of balls and have completed your session of play, then place the balls in a pressureball tube ,inflate to 14 psi or a little higher , and the balls will never go flat .Unlike the screw together “Ball Savers” out there which only slow the rate at which balls go flat ,Pressureball can actually replace lost pressure in the balls .Another benefit of Pressureball is that ,unlike some other pressurisers , it is transparent so you can tell if balls have collapsed under the pressure you have pumped into the tube .Collapsed balls will not revive .
So the end result is that you can now purchase good quality tennis balls at a lower cost , whose main failing was longevity and thus ended up further down in peoples lists of the best balls for 2021.
Some examples are:
Wilson Championship
Dunlop ATP Championship
Penn Championship
Dunlop Fort All Court
Wilson US Open Ball
At the bottom of this post is a list of all the balls available in 2020 .You will see that there are only really three places in the world that make tennis balls – China, the Philippines, and Thailand. Meaning the vast majority of balls do come from the same factory. However, the quality of felt, density of felt, and the thickness of the wall of the ball differ.
NO MATTER WHAT TENNIS BALL YOU CHOOSE, YOU CAN MAKE THEM LAST LONGER!
By storing your tennis balls in PressureBall the balls will keep bouncing like brand new balls, until the felt wears out! This clever invention will save you money as your tennis balls remain usable for much, much longer. And you’ll know that every time you head onto the court your balls will perform like new.
PressureBall is a Tennis Ball Pressurizer Tube that ensures new tennis balls will never lose their bounce.
